 Indian Hill Road Cleanup – A project to assist Westmoreland Cleanways in the cleanup, stream restoration and habitat replacement in a ravine, degraded by dumping and erosion, located along Indian Hill Road in Allegheny Township. This project took place on March 31, 2007 and was a huge success. The Westmoreland Consevation Districrt partnered with Westmoreland Cleanways ( 724-836-4129, to complete this project.
  Pucketa Creek Stormwater Control– A project to implement innovative stream channel design addressing certain erosion and sedimentation concerns on Little Pucketa Creek in the vicinity of Valley High School and Seventh Street, and the area that was severely impacted by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. The Westmoreland Conservation District partnered with Valley High School, the City of New Kensington, and the Pucketa and Chartiers Creek Watershed Association to complete this four phase project from 2008 – 2010.

Projects included installing 15 rock vane deflectors, streambank stabiliztion, tree plantings, and an infiltration parking lot.

Vandergrift Green Space – A project to restore a paved traffic median, used for parking, to the intent of the 19th-Century design by noted Landscape Architect Frederick Law Olmstead. Work will include removing impermeable pavement and installing “green” surfaces, allowing for stormwater management, planting beds, and parking.
Wolfpack Park stream restoration – Completed in 2010 this project incorporated natural stream design features. The goal was to create a natural and stabilized Chartiers Creek as it flows through the park.
