"Keeping Up...Keeping Ahead"
Posted on 26 March, 2010
Workshop Designed for Engineers and Technical Professionals
Greensburg, PA – Keeping up with changes and the latest technologies is a continuing challenge for most professions these days.
To help engineers, municipal officials, planners, developers, and others who routinely work with development projects keep up and even get a few steps ahead, the Westmoreland Conservation District is hosting a full-day workshop on the revisions, updates, changes, emerging issues, and trends that these professionals need to know.
Offered twice – on Thursday, March 4 and Friday, March 5 – the full-day workshop will address what’s new in post-construction stormwater management, in the erosion and sediment control program, and with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System construction permit program.
It will offer practical, real-world feedback on stormwater best management practices, erosion and sediment control designs for highway construction, maintaining detention facilities, low-impact development, and how one township is responding to Marcellus shale site activity.
Legal issues related to off-site discharges and high-quality watersheds, and watershed-based site design round out the offerings.
Speakers scheduled to appear include three representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection: Darl Rosenquest, PE, senior civil engineer, Mary Martha Truschel Esquire, Southwest Office of Chief Counsel, and Bob Scheib, environmental engineer, Southwest Region; as well as Joe Dietrick, PE, of The Markosky Engineering Group Inc.; Chris Nix, Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control and civil engineer of R.A. Smith National; Tamira Spedaliere, Rostraver Township planner; Ken Orie, PE, of Gibson-Thomas Engineering Co., Inc.; and members of the Westmoreland Conservation District staff.
Breakout sessions and a vendor show also are included in the workshop, which will be held at the Fred Rogers Center on the Saint Vincent College campus in Latrobe. The workshop begins with registration at 8:00 a.m. and it ends at 4:00 p.m. The cost of $50 includes breakfast, lunch, and materials.
Seating is limited and registration and payment are required by February 25. For online registration and payment, go to www.wcdpa.com. For questions, contact Christie at 724-837-5271.
